Planting by the moon has been practiced for centuries. Some pass it off as mythology, old timers tales and dreams of zodiac worshipers. Others completely swear by it. I guess the beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Let’s not forget, the old timers have been gardening for much longer than most of us have.
With that said, here’s my personal take. In gardening, all we’re doing is trying to replicate nature. For all gardeners – in all climates, we’re trying to grow something that doesn’t naturally grow within our area. That’s why we water, fertilize, amend soil, use greenhouses, cold-frames, etc. For example: Blackberries grow plentiful in my area without any help at all, I can’t kill them fast enough. Tomatoes and Basil, they need a little extra care, perhaps a head start indoors and an extra boost of nutrients.
If gravity is a major force in our world/universe and our moon has a gravitational effect on the Earth, enough to influence out tides, it just might have an influence on our plants and gardens. So I say why not, it makes complete sense from a universal perspective. It’s not going to hurt and just might help Aside from that, it also helps us to keep in tune with our environment, our planet and the universe.
